NEAIR has multiple avenues for volunteer opportunities. We welcome the contributions of all members and make every effort to make use of members’ talents in ways that are mutually beneficial to the member and the association. The areas listed below are examples within the general category of volunteer opportunities. Please contact NEAIR to inquire about current activities or Association needs.
Short Term Opportunities
NEAIR often uses persons willing to assist for short periods of time during its Conference and Professional Development Services activities. Typical tasks include staffing registration and local arrangements tables, leading dinner groups, and assisting with technical support.
Occasionally NEAIR also requests volunteers to serve on short term, project oriented, ad hoc committees. These committees may meet in person only once or complete their work via a series of conference calls or emails. Recent examples are the Ad Hoc Governance Committee, the Member Survey Committee, the Internal Financial Audit Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee.
Committee Service Opportunities
The Association has several ongoing committees which carry out the organization’s mission and goals. These committees work under the supervision of a Steering Committee member and report to the Steering Committee. While some committees require persons with specific expertise (such as web development or conference planning), others do not. Committee assignments are typically made for no less than one year and up to 3 year terms.
Each year the Association elects a President-Elect, two Steering Committee members, and six members of the Nominating Committee. Also, the Treasurer and Recording Secretary are elected every three years. While each position has its own unique set of qualifications, generally those running for elected positions have experience with one or more of NEAIR’s committees.
