NEAIR members can once again expect an exceptional conference experience as the program proposals reviewed and accepted by your peers will showcase the exemplary work going on throughout the North East. This includes yet another strong slate of pre-conference workshops (on Saturday and/or Sunday) for those seeking more intensive training in, or exposure to: assessment and accreditation; software applications; statistics; and analytical approaches to better understanding data. Our opening plenary speaker Erick Brethenoux, Director of Business Analytics & Decision Management Strategy at IBM will officially kick-off the conference on Sunday evening with "The Power of Predictive Analytics in Higher Education", followed by the traditionally well-appointed NEAIR opening banquet. Monday morning's program will feature keynote speaker David Bergeron, Acting Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education with the U.S. Department of Education as he discusses the "Lessons the Data Teach Us". The keynote will be followed by breakout sessions featuring the good work of the NEAIR membership. Monday's Annual business lunch is the venue for welcoming our new leadership team, thanking our past team, and…well…, taking care of business.
Returning this Year will be the Monday Evening "Data with a Twist Reception" – an early evening cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception showcasing the poster presentations, culminating with the conferring of the Best Visual Award (for a poster presentation.) The reception will immediately follow a new Data with a Twist Keynote by Dr. Catherine Plaisant, Associate Director of Research of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab of the University of Maryland who will share "Information Visualization: from Data to Insight"
The conference will close Tuesday late-morning with closing plenary speaker Dr. Tina Leimer, Founder of the Reshaping IR Listserv, as she delivers "Visualizing the Future of Institutional Research". No conference would be complete without the always thrilling annual NEAIR raffle and 2012 will close with the longstanding NEAIR tradition.
We believe you'll find the 39th Annual NEAIR Conference in Bethesda to be an exceptional learning and networking experience, as the Conference and Local Arrangements Teams work diligently to ensure you have an outstanding conference experience.
