Getting to Newport by Train
Newport is accessible by either the Amtrak Kingston Station in West Kingston, RI (18 miles) or the Amtrak Providence Station in Providence, RI (34 miles).
Shuttle From Kingston Station: The Amtrak-approved shuttle service from the Kingston Station is A-Airline Express-Limo Car Service (401) 295-1100 email@example.com). There is a flat rate of $69.00 for the first three riders, then $20.00 for each additional rider. This is plus tax, gratuity and bridge toll. We will be working with them (or setting up a ride board) to facilitate seting up groups to travel together.
Providence Station: Arriving at the Providence Amtrak station the connection to Newport is a bit more complex. There is public transportation (RIPTA http://www.ripta.com), but does involve about a 6 min walk from the train station to the bus.

To take advantage of this 10% discount off the lowest rail fare to Kingston, RI, please use fare code number: X56p-973. Valid dates for travel are November 05, 2013 to November 16, 2013. Please note that this fare cannot be booked via the internet, but through Amtrak Reservations (1-800-873-7245) or your local travel agent.
Also there is another Amtrak discount program, the 25% Off Northeast Travel. You can save 25% off the lowest available fares when you book 14 days in advance. Just choose the Adult or Child passenger type when booking to receive the discounted fare. This discount is only available on the Northeast Regional Service.
Also on weekdays, the MBTA does run from Boston to the Providence Airport, where you can use the transportation listed in that section.
