Boston - Keynote Speakers

Keynote Speakers

NEAIR members can once again expect another exceptional conference experience as the program proposals reviewed and accepted by your peers will showcase the exemplary work going on throughout the Northeast. This includes yet another strong slate of pre-conference workshops (on Saturday and/or Sunday) for those seeking more intensive training in, or exposure to such topics as: assessment; accreditation; software applications; statistics; and strategic planning.

Opening plenary speaker Dr. Daniel E. Hastings, Dean for Undergraduate Education at MIT and Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Engineering Systems, will officially kick-off the conference on Sunday evening. If you have ever wanted to hear a real-life rocket scientist speak, you will want to be in Boston on Sunday! After the opening plenary, the fabulous "Leading the Charge” reception and banquet will take place in The Boston Park Plaza's magnificent Imperial Ballroom.

Monday morning's program will feature an "Access and Opportunity: Closing the Divide Panel” including panelists from Year Up, The Steppingstone Foundation, and Cambridge College.  This panel will be followed by breakout sessions featuring the wonderful work of the NEAIR membership. Monday's annual business lunch will serve as the venue for welcoming our new leadership team, thanking our past team, and…well…, taking care of business.

We will again host our mid-day Monday "Data & Dessert” event – an afternoon dessert and coffee break where the Best Visual Award (for a poster presentation) will be celebrated over a special treat. Finally, a number of Special Interest Group (SIG) sessions will be in the offing over the course of the program.

After morning concurrent sessions on Tuesday, the conference will close with plenary speaker Hans L'Orange, Vice President for Research and Information Resources and Director of the SHEEO/NCES Network for the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO). Before you head home, we will again have the much anticipated annual NEAIR raffle.

We trust you will find the 2011 Boston Conference an unparalleled learning and networking experience, as the Local Arrangements Team works deftly behind the scenes to make your entire stay comfortable. We look forward to seeing YOU, in Boston!
