TRAVEL:

Getting to Saratoga

Saratoga is accessible by plane, train, or car. Approximately 30 miles from the Albany International Airport, 35 miles from the Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak Station, 200 miles from Boston, Providence & Newark, and 145 miles from Hartford.

Driving. Saratoga is located just off of the Northway (I-87), and is accessible from exits 13N-15. Driving directions can be found at http://www.saratoga.org/visitors/travel-tools.asp.

Flying. If you are flying in, your destination will be the Albany International Airport, and you may need to rent a car or get a limo/shuttle to travel those 30 miles to Saratoga. If you're not renting a car, your best bet is to use the limo/shuttle services provided by All Occasions Transportation Group. See the information below about arranging for a limo/shuttle.

Taking the Train. If you prefer to travel by train, there is an Amtrak station in downtown Saratoga Springs (SAR) . Or, you may choose to take Amtrak to the Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak Station (ALB), approximately 35 miles from Saratoga, and then take a limo/shuttle to Saratoga. The Amtrak schedule can be found at http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePage. Here are some tips:

  • As you'll note from the schedule, relatively few trains come to Saratoga, and there can be delays north of Albany, so plan accordingly. If you do take the train to Saratoga, it's best to call a cab company prior to your arrival. Fares to the hotel will run around $4. Cab companies and their phone numbers are as follows:
    • Medo Taxi, (518) 932-6459
    • Saratoga Taxi, (518) 584-2700
    • Saratoga Capitaland Taxi, (518) 583-3131
  • If you take the train to the Albany-Rensselaer Station, your best bet is to use the limo/shuttle services provided by All Occasions Transportation Group (see information immediately below).

Booking a Limo/Shuttle. All Occasions Transportation Group will provide limo/shuttle services to NEAIR attendees. PLEASE NOTE THAT ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE (with respect to both getting to and leaving Saratoga). Shuttle charges from and to the Albany airport and the Albany-Rensselaer train station will cost $15 per person, assuming at least 8 people are making the trip. Up to three people can book a limo for a total cost of $70 per trip.

If you want to make limo/shuttle arrangements, contact All Occasions Transportation Group at (518) 479-5466, or e-mail them at allocclimos@aol.com. The company will develop a transportation schedule after reservations are received. In addition, the company will provide "Meet and Greet” service at the Albany airport and the Albany-Rensselaer train station.

Taxis. It is possible to get a taxi from Albany to Saratoga If you have to, but that will be your most expensive option. To illustrate, Yellow Cab, at (518) 434-2222, offers fares of $80 per person, $90 for two persons, $100 for three, and $120 for four.
