Dear Colleagues:

It is my pleasure and privilege to invite you to NEAIR’s 33rd Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The conference planners have been working very hard to develop an outstanding program that has something for everyone regardless of whether you work in the public or private sector or in a large or small setting.  The conference will be starting off on Saturday and Sunday by offering a host of optional workshops designed to focus on areas of institutional research and higher education that are relevant to today’s practitioners.

Saturday evening will feature the Welcome Reception: “A Taste of Philly” where you will have the opportunity to meet and greet new and old colleagues. On Sunday evening the formal program kicks off with the Opening Plenary Session being delivered by Jamie Merisotis, President of The Institute for Higher Education Policy.  The program continues onto Monday morning with the opening plenary featuring Dr. Patricia McGuire, President of Trinity University in Washington, D.C.  The remainder of the program includes paper presentations, workshares, poster presentations, table topics, vendor presentations and special interest groups (SIGs).  The conference will culminate Tuesday mid-day with a Closing Plenary: “Past NEAIR Presidents Panel” which will provide insight into some of the major issues facing institutional research and higher education today.

We are delighted to be holding this year’s NEAIR Conference in Philadelphia. Philadelphia is known as “the city where American democracy was born, culture and nightlife thrive, and world-class shopping and dining await.”  It is also an area that houses more than 80 colleges and degree-granting institutions—with 27 of these schools within city limits.  The conference hotel—The Sheraton at Society Hill—is located in the Historic/Waterfront District adjacent to Penn’s Landing and the Independence National Historical Park.

So, come and join the conference planners and your institutional research colleagues as we pursue this year’s mission of “Soaring to Excellence.”

Marjorie Wiseman
NEAIR President
