PROCEEDINGS & AWARDS

Conference Proceedings
To be considered for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings, all papers must conform to the specifications outlined in the 2005 Conference Proceedings Guidelines.  There are two ways to submit a paper for the proceedings:

At the Conference:  You may submit your paper on a 3.5-inch diskette or CD along with three hard copies of the paper--one original and two high-quality copies--prepared according to the guidelines.  There will be a box on the conference registration desk for your submission.

Via Email:  Please send to gfink@usmd.edu  no later than 5 p.m. three days after the Annual Conference.  Use Microsoft Word 97 (or translatable) software, preferably in IBM format.

If you have any questions, please contact the 2005 NEAIR Publications Chair, Gayle Fink at gfink@usmd.edu.

Best Paper Awards
To be considered for a Best Paper Award, please submit your paper according to the 2005 Best Paper Award Guidelines.  The NEAIR Best Paper Award was instituted to recognize and promote quality contributions to scholarly research and writing among professionals who contribute and present papers at the annual NEAIR conference. The NEAIR Best First Paper Award was established to encourage and recognize new NEAIR conference presenters who demonstrate commendable research in their first scholarly papers.

The paper(s) selected to receive a Best Paper award will be published in the Conference Proceedings, will receive a $200 award, a waiver of the next year’s NEAIR conference registration fee, a letter of congratulations from the President of NEAIR, and will be automatically offered a presentation time in the next year’s conference program. The NEAIR Best Paper Award recipient is also invited to present the paper at AIR’s Best Regional Papers session.

If you have questions, please contact the 2005 Best Paper Coordinator, Wendell Lorang at wlorang@uamail.albany.edu.

Best IR Report or Practitioner Paper Award
To be considered for a the Best IR Report or Practitioner Paper Award, please submit your report or paper according to the 2005 Best IR Report or Practitioner Paper Guidelines.  The NEAIR Best IR Report or Practitioner Paper Award was instituted as a result of conversations inspired by last year’s Community of Practice session discussing the contributions of both practical and scholarly work in the IR field.  It also acknowledges the growing importance of the poster session in the NEAIR program.  Since its inception at the 2002 Cambridge conference the poster session has grown in number as well as in popularity.  We are pleased to be able to offer a venue for recognition of this work as well as the more practical work often presented in workshares. We encourage conference presenters to consider submission for this award.

The Best IR Report or Practitioner Paper Award will be commensurate to the Best Paper Awards.

If you have questions, please contact Michelle Appel, NEAIR President, mappel@umd.edu.
