NEWCOMERS & FIRST-TIMERS
Newcomer to IR? First NEAIR
Conference?
Saturday, November 5th is Newcomers Day!
Newcomers to Institutional Research Pre-Conference Workshop
The Newcomer's Workshop is designed for new
practitioners and addresses key components of IR including: defining
critical issues; identifying sources of data; developing standard
institutional information/reports; and conducting effective assessment/
evaluation activities. See Pre-Conference
Workshops for details.
Consider the NEAIR Mentor Program!
The NEAIR Mentor Program matches
new institutional researchers with experienced professionals for informal,
on-going advice and support. There will be a Mentor Program Participants
Meeting at the conference from 4-5pm on Saturday. If you are
interested in participating in this program, be sure to check the
appropriate box on the Registration Form and you will be contacted by the
Mentor Committee Chair, Kelli Armstrong. To ensure that your pairing
is set-up by the time of the conference please complete your registration by
the Early Bird deadline, October 5th.
Saturday Evening Welcome Reception,
5-6:30pm
Immediately following the Mentor Program Participants Meeting on
Saturday evening, is the Saturday Night Welcome Reception: A Night at
the Races. All newcomers and conference attendees are
encouraged to attend!
While the horses won’t be racing in Saratoga in November, they will be
racing at our Saturday night reception! Come help us kick off the
conference and welcome newcomer’s at what promises to be an entertaining
event that will give you the sensation of being at Saratoga during race
season.
Saturday Evening Dinner Groups, 7pm-?
A few local restaurants have been selected for pay-your-own-way dinner
groups to continue the fellowship and conversation started at the Welcome
Reception. When you arrive in Saratoga, see the conference
registration table for more information and to sign-up to join a group.
Program for
Newcomers/First-timers
The NEAIR Mentor Committee asks concurrent session speakers to identify
sessions particularly interesting and pertinent to newcomers.
Although Newcomers are invited to all concurrent sessions, the program serves
only to highlight sessions that may be of particular interest. When
you arrive in Saratoga, these programs will be available at the conference
registration table.
